I would say check with your bridal shop.
It will all depend on when they order their new styles and when they come in.
However if you find your dress a year or so ahead it will be one less thing for you to do. Fittings usually take about 2 months.

The bride gets to choose what ever dress she likes for the maids to wear.
I am not sure if they will happily agree with your choice and it will be hard to get several girls to agree on one dress.
Perhaps you could choose the color and let the girls choose the style from the same designer.

I am having a late morning summer garden wedding(2nd marriage, approaching 50), I found a beautiful well fitting dress but it is a dark sapphire,(spaghetti straps, calf length). Do you think this is too dark of a color for a daytime summer wedding?
