So, How’d You Two Meet? Most Couples Introduced through Family, Friends and Work
HACKENSACK, NJ (January 4, 2007) — WedAlert.com, one of the most popular and fastest growing interactive online wedding planning directories on the Internet, today announced the results of its poll on how couples met. The choices and results were as follows*:
How did you meet your bride/groom?
- Through family, friends or a social/cultural/religious gathering - 37%
- At work - 24%
- At school - 20% (rounded from 19.58%)
- On the Internet - 20% (rounded from 20.10%)
“The results of this poll show that individuals are most likely to meet their significant other through family, friends or social, cultural and religious gatherings. In fact, these are probably the best ways to do so because family and friends know us best, plus having common interests and beliefs can only strengthen a marriage,” said Joyce Artinian, a spokesperson for WedAlert.com. “As for the workplace, it’s understandable that a good number of singles meet their future spouses there because that’s where many of us spend most of our time; however, people should check out their company’s policy on dating co-workers before pursuing a romantic relationship. Not too far behind, and in a close tie, were meeting at school and on the Internet. This indicates that meeting online, at least initially, is becoming more and more popular.”
