Majority of Couples Still Get Word Out About Wedding the Old-fashioned Way

HACKENSACK, NJ (October 19, 2006) — WedAlert.com, one of the most popular and fastest growing interactive online wedding planning directories on the Internet, today announced the results of its poll on how couples get the word out about their wedding. The choices and results were as follows*:

How are you going to get the word out about your wedding?

  • Regular mail/Traditional stationery - 73%
  • E-mail/Internet (e.g., Evite.com) - 12%
  • Text message - 5%
  • Phone call - 10%

“Although e-mail and other technologically advanced modes of communication are increasingly being used, when it comes to inviting wedding guests, proper etiquette still dictates that it be done the old-fashioned way by regular mail with traditional stationery,” said Joyce Artinian, a spokesperson for WedAlert.com. “However, since more and more couples are meeting online nowadays, it’s not surprising to see that 12% of those polled are using e-mail and the Internet, which brought them together in the first place, to invite family and friends to their wedding. This number will probably increase over time.”
